UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination 2013

Union Public Service commission (UPSC), New Delhi, has invited applications from talented, well-educated and proficient Indian candidates for Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination 2013, for recruitment. The recruitment is to be done for the position of Special Railway Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.
 
Selection of the candidates is to be done on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination, followed by Interview Test and Documents Verification. Candidates qualified in the written examination will be called for the interview test. The written examination is scheduled to be held from January 20, 2013.
 
Examination will be conducted at Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizwal, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwar, Dispur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji (Goa), Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur, and Visakhapatnam centers. The examination schedule and centre address will be mentioned in the candidates’ e-Admission Certificate.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:
  • Passed Intermediate or its equivalent examination with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry as one of the subjects of the examination, with 1st class or 2nd class division from a recognized Board / University, with Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as one of the subjects from a recognized University / Institute Or
  • Passed Higher Secondary (12 years) Examination under 10 + 2 pattern of School Education with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry as one of the subjects of the examination, with 1st class or 2nd class division from a recognized Board / University Or
  • Passed the first year Examination under the three year Degree course from a University or the first year examination of the three year Diploma course in Rural Service of the National Council for Rural Higher Education or the third year Examination for promotion to the 4th year of the four year BA / B Sc Degree (Evening College) of the Madras University with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as subjects of the examination with 1st class or 2nd class division, and have passed the first / second year examination under the three-year degree course with 1st class or 2nd class division with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry as subjects of the Examination from a recognized University Or
  • Passed Pre-Engineering Examination with 1st class or 2nd class division from a recognized University / Institute Or
  • Passed Pre-Professional / Pre-Technological Examination with 1st class or 2nd class division from a recognized Indian University / Board, with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as subjects of the examination, conducted one year after the Higher Secondary or Pre-University Stage Or
  • Passed the first year examination under the five years Engineering Degree Course from a University, and have passed Higher Secondary Examination or Pre-University or its equivalent examination with 1st class or 2nd class division Or
  • Passed Pre-Degree Examination from the Universities of Kerala and Calicut with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as subjects of the Examination, with 1st class or 2nd class division
Age Limit:
  • Candidates should be above the age of 17 years and below the age of 21 years.
  • Age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / PH / EXS candidates provided as per government norms.

Application Fee: Rs 100 (Exempted for SC / ST / PH / Women candidates)

How To Apply:

  • Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria and are willing to apply, can fill the online application form by visiting the official link of UPSC: http://www.upsconline.nic.in/
  • Online registration began from October 13, 2012 and will close on November 12, 2012 till 11.59 pm.
  • Online registration is to be done in two parts i.e., Part I Registration & Part II Registration.
  • Candidates applying through online mode should pay an application fee of Rs 100, either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or through net banking facility of SBI / State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or by Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
  • After successful submission of the online application form, the system will generate a complete application form with unique Registration No., which candidates are required to print out and keep with them for future reference.
